South Australian Interschool Snowsport Championships

WHAT ARE WE COMPETING FOR?

Trophies are awarded to Schools with the greatest number of points acquired during the competitions. Male and female team times for each school, in both secondary and primary categories, determine the number of points awarded. First, second and third place getters in each division will be awarded medals, see [RULES]  Individual medals are awarded to the fastest primary and secondary male and female skier/boarder.

 

WHAT ELSE IS AVAILABLE?

All entrants in the Championships will receive vouchers for discounts at various Resort establishments like 50% discount on resort entry for the week of compeition. These vary from year to year but can contribute to significant savings on refreshments and equipment hire. In order to take part in this sporting event you need to be registered with SASKI.

 

OPENING CEREMONY

Held on the Monday night of SA Interschool week, at 17:30 – 18:00, Slalom Plaza. Come along and support your school.

 

SPONSORS, TEACHERS, PARENTS COCKTAIL PARTY

Tuesday evening (18th) Venue to be advised @ 8:00pm.

This event is to thank the behind-the-scene organisers, sponsors, workers and financial providers.

Nibbles and refreshments provided.

 

TROPHIES

Trophies, awards for individual divisional winners are presented at the award presentation on Wed 19th, 17:00 for snowboarding and 17:00 Thu 20th for all alpine and overall winners. The venue will be the area opposite BE-Foods Store, Frying Pan area. Exact details or any changes will be forwarded to team managers during the Interschool Week, or placed on the official Interschool notice board. Please consult this board at Cloud 9 regularly.

Participants can download their own entry certificate from the page when available.

There will a number of giveaways to entrants of the Championships during the week.

 

GETTING TO THE SNOW

Drive, organised charter bus, commercial bus/s via Melbourne, Fly to Melbourne and catch bus to the Vic snow fields.

If driving there are generally 3 options, via Melbourne, via central Vic or via northern Vic.

Bus travel to Falls Creek:-

SA Interschools Deal, bus leaving Adelaide, Sat pm, and returning the following Fri pm.

There is internet and USB connections available on the bus.

A BIT ON SAFTEY

downloads_17The alpine environment can spectacular and invigorating, but it can be dangerous too, weather can change very quickly and become unfamiliar to persons not used to it.

Observe all warning signs when in the mountains and visit Snowsafe’s website before leaving for the snow. Become familiar with the alpine responsibility code and the safety tips provided within Snowsafe’s site.
